"> Refugee Team (Outreach)

We periodically welcome a refugee family through our partnership with Bethany Christian Services/PARA (Programs Assisting Refugee Acculturation). As a co-sponsor we help the family settle in to their new culture here in the Tri-Cities. You can imagine the overwhelming sense of change and insecurity that comes from resettling as a refugee. We share radical love in practical ways while growing together in Christ through our relationships with these families.

There are lots of opportunities to help one time or on a recurring basis:

  • ENGLISH TUTORING - Help adult refugees learn English one-on-one. Training and material is provided.
  • TRANSPORTATION - Provide transportation for various needs.
  • SOCIAL - Arrange visits and fun activities. Help them feel welcome in their new home.
  • HOUSING - Assist in finding housing. Collect Welcome Pack items (household goods, clothing and groceries).
  • MEDICAL - Keep track of medical and dental appointments and needs. Log appointments on form provided.
  • EMPLOYMENT - Network within church and the community for job leads. Help practice for interviews and prepare resumes.
  • BUDGET/HOUSEHOLD FINANCES - Encourage and educate on how to live frugally and use a budget.
