Serving Opportunities

Steve & Jo Kilbry - The Kilbry family is coming to West Michigan for a short visit from Slovakia! We're looking for housing for their family of five from May 31 through June 24. If you have a condo, cottage, or just some extra bedrooms, please contact Jen Miller. They are also looking for a vehicle to borrow.

Barnabas Ministries -This summer Barnabas Ministries is going to be “Building Community” with a group of young women who desperately need to know that their community cares about them. Barnabas Ministries Girls Group meets on Wednesday afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m. July 26 through August 14. Group Mentors, Transporters, and snacks are needed. Do you have the gift of hospitality? Children's Ministry is looking for a couple volunteers for the summer to serve at the registration desk, welcoming new families. This could be a once or twice a month commitment. For more information contact Julie Stahl at jstahl@slwc.org or 616.842.9022 x 335.

Good Sense Financial Counseling Ministry - We are in need of some additional counselors for this very important ministry. We have many families/individuals who need help. If you like working with people, and are gifted in the areas of money management, and record keeping please consider joining the team. There is a one day training session to teach those interested all about the Good Sense Financial Counseling program. 2012 Ride for Refuge Update - Last week Thad was in Albania and got to visit the child care center we supported through last year's Ride for Refuge! Check out the outreach blog for pictures and an update!

Next Generation

Warehouse 58 - for students in 5th–8th grade, meets on Wednesdays from 7–8:30 p.m. at SLWC in W200 during the school year. Our next time together will be June 12th. Join us for a wild and crazy game night!

Warehouse 912 - for students in 9th–12th grade, meets on Sundays from 6–7:30 p.m. at SLWC in W200 during the school year. Our school year has concluded, but watch for our summer events.

Unity Christian Music Festival Tickets - This will be the last Sunday to purchase Unity Tickets! Get them today! We will have tickets available to purchase between services and after the 11:00 service for the month of May at the Information Center. There will be 1-day passes for $15 and 3-day passes for $30. This festival takes place August 8-10 at the Heritage Landing Waterfront in Muskegon.

Community Events

Exchanging Cultures - We are seeking loving host families to share their family activities and lifestyle with a youth from Spain for JUST 4 WEEKS this summer. Ideal families will have at least one child between the ages of 13-18 living at home and be enthusiastic about including a Spanish youth in their day-to-day lifestyle and activities. Our participants (male and female) are 16-17 years old and are thrilled to travel to the US for the first time this summer to improve their English and experience an American summer. Al-Anon Meetings - Spring Lake Campus
- Weekly on Thursdays at 12:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in lower level room E113. Childcare is available at the 12:00 p.m. session only in E115. Enter the building through the OFFICE entrance door (west side of the building - it's clearly marked). Follow the signs to the lower level.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group - Spring Lake Campus - Group meets the third Tuesday of the month, 3:00-4:30 p.m. in lower level room E111. Enter the building through the OFFICE entrance door (west side of the building - it's clearly marked). Follow the signs to the lower level. Yeshi Moves
- Spring Lake Campus - A workout for the Mind & Body. Weekly classes are held on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level room E116 at the Spring Lake Campus. Come get spiritually and physically fit. Yoga mats, eye pillows and blankets provided, but if you have a mat feel free to bring it along. Cost: free will offering. We have the people in need, just need more mentors!- Have you ever come across someone who is experiencing some of the same things you too have experienced in life? Have you ever thought about sharing what you've learned, in dealing with challenges, with others? You can share wisdom, gained from your own learning experiences, and be a trusted guide and friend to someone else. Counseling - If you are in need of counseling, we are pleased to offer help.  Whether your need is for individual, family or marriage counseling we have excellent resources available to you.  Pastor Ralph Baynum is our on-staff counselor, and in some cases we do referrals to trusted Christian counselors in the community.  We will work with you to determine the most appropriate counselor to meet your needs. Food Pantry @ SLWC - Mondays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
